TIANG’ has been shortlisted for the KLAF2022 Installation Competition: Defying Gravity.
In this design, we take ‘tiang seri’ as the outline and core of the installation that metaphors a center force (system), while the fragmented pieces of cement board and acrylic represent each individual. Every fragmented piece was tied towards one another with a fishing line to create a new force (system). Also, the different use of materials (painted cement board, raw cement board and acrylic) resembles the idea of dispersion. The process of dispersing a strong core creates a floating effect that a tiang was not supported or pulled towards the gravity.
